Artist, Heidi Lewis Coleman and Michael Woodside, Founder and President of the MierSterling Company have formed a joint venture to oversee the production of their new line of hand-dyed, hand-knotted rugs in Nepal.
The designs for the rugs were originally created by Heidi Lewis Coleman as paintings, and the rugs are intricate replicas of her vibrant artwork. Made of hand-spun yarn in the Tibetan tradition, the rugs combine Coleman's contemporary designs with centuries old craftsmanship.
The initial collecion, called Nuances and Textures, includes six designs which may be ordered in a variety of sizes. "All the rugs are created from my paintings", says Coleman. "A rug is another canvas to work with... You can look at the floor as a framework for a piece of art."
